King Iblis was an immortal Djinn ruler of Volca and aligned with Chaos. His wife was Queen Malikel.
History[]
At some point before Primal, Abaddon gave the Heart Stone to Iblis in order to guarantee an immortal ally on the throne of Volca. Arrogant and merciless, Iblis would use his power to hunt for turncoats plotting to take his life; according to Malikel, this was his favourite past-time. He likely had a part in the interrogation and torture of Abdizur upon the latter's capture when trying to hide the infant Jen and Lewis from the Chaos Lord's clutches.
During the events of Primal, with Chronos killed by Lewis and when it seems all is lost, Scree guides Jen to the final realm of Volca. As they arrive and make their way through the volcano, the pair heads into a dark room. Complaining about not being able to see and tripping, she snatches a torch and lights the nearby oil bowl and inadvertently illuminates the entire room - revealing a vast and elaborate hall. At that moment, Iblis stirs and demands to know who dared to awaken him, but also deviously suggests he is not the King. Believing him, Jen and Scree explain they are on the side of Chaos, although it is uncertain if Iblis believes them, saying that an individual with harmful intent would gain good favour with those who want the King deposed, particularly Queen Malikel. Iblis then shows interest in Jen as a hybrid and wishes for her to be sold to him. Scree disagrees that Jen is of much use, describing her as "none too bright", and the King seemingly drops the matter and gives her the Djinn aspect. Iblis then leaves.
After seeing Jen defeat many enemies in her new demon form, the King reappears and reveals that she is now working for him. Her mind is taken over by his influence within the Djinn energy she received and she then turns on Scree. Jen kicks Scree into a tunnel and he falls down to the lower levels of Volca. It is unknown where Iblis disappears to at this point, but Jen is left alone. Once Scree has spoken to Malikel and is given pure Djinn essence to free Jen from the King's influence, a fight takes place between Scree and Jen. Jen is fortunately freed and transforms, confirming that the Queen's power is safe. The pair then returns to Malikel, where she explains about the Heart Stone and demands that her husband is killed; she says he has likely retreated to his Hall Of Gods. Allied with the Queen, Jen and Scree head further into the volcano and intend to defeat Iblis.
The King is found within the Hall Of Gods, stood on the hands of the giant Goliath, who acts as the final boss. Losing to the combined efforts of Jen and Scree, Goliath collapses and Iblis is left clinging desperately to the edge of the platform. He appears more humble and begs to be pulled out. but Jen has no sympathy for him and takes his Heart Stone. Malikel then arrives and repeats her order of killing her husband. She states that compassion is rare is Volca and contagious, but not enough for her to spare Iblis. She pushes him over the edge to his death and, with her half of the Heart Stone, becomes the new immortal ruler of the realm.
Appearance[]
Iblis is unusual as a Djinn (which is shared with Malikel) in that his appearance is less avian than many members of his race, such as the Ghul. He possesses golden skin and a pointed nose, much like a beak, as well as what appear to be feathers around his shoulders. He wears a wrap over the lower half of his body, fixed by a thick belt adorned with a sun symbol as its buckle. His legs are bare and end in bird feet with large talons, much like an eagle.
